With help from the DOH and HLC, Cowlitz County Health and Human Services is working to improve walkability in Cowlitz County by convening a coalition of citizens and decision-makers who are interested in making pedestrian improvements in our county. Walkable Cowlitz will work on strategies to address everything from sidewalk access to safety, trail development and connectivity, crosswalks and beauty. All these elements contribute to Cowlitz County residents’ ability to walk in their neighborhoods, increase their physical activity, and make social connections. More attractive, safe and walkable streets increase livability, contribute to higher property values and promote economic development—a win, win for everyone.
