Road trip! Members of HLC Committee and HLC Policy Committee recently traveled to White Salmon Valley School District for an incredible shared learning visit. We learned about the new district Health & Wellness Center, where students can receive clinical behavioral health services. In the future, the Health & Wellness will expand to also provide primary care medical services. We listened to student leaders who are a part of the peer-to-peer support program Sources of Strength, and were inspired by their work to reduce stigma about behavioral health in their community, connect students to resources, and mentor younger students. We also discussed policy priorities for families in White Salmon, including the need for more access to behavioral health services and affordable housing. We are very grateful for the hospitality and wisdom our partners from the White Salmon Valley School District shared with us!
