Taking Action for the Holidays
In mid-December, community and organizational partners came together to provide a Latinx Legal Clinic. Cowlitz County volunteer lawyers provided more than 25 families with legal counsel regarding tenant rights, immigration, contracts, and family law. Thanks to Cowlitz County Lawyers, Wallace Elementary School and SW Washington LULAC for your efforts!
The CHW teams have also been very active. The Rose Village team collected more than 500 items for families in need at Washington Elementary, exceeding their goal of 250 items. Rose Village CHW Kim also saw a need a worked with her community to fix it; a family of eight, including the father who is a permanently disabled veteran, was facing eviction and preparing to move just before the holidays with all money going to moving fees and deposits for their new place. Kim gathered support from 32 other community members who wanted to help and provided food, household supplies and some holiday gifts to help bring cheer to this struggling family.
These are just a few examples of the massive effort underway this holiday. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
